Thanks to an accidental spotting at the last meeting, Peter Provost has turned me onto Simp Lite. This nice little tool encrypts your IM chats with anybody else you happens to be using Simp. Simp stands for Secway Instant Messenger Privacy.
Free version lets you encrypt one IM type at a time (I'm only interested in MSN, so that's fine with me). For pay, you can encrypt all types at once. It was a breezy install and everything just worked right out of the box. Very nice.
By default, it throws up bubble boxes like MSN's to tell you when you're chatting secure or not. It colors the text of your participant(s) to give you another visual feedback (red = not encrypted, blue = encrypted, green = encrypted and authenticated). It'll even apparently encrypt group conversations.
Shilling over. Go download and come chat, securely. :-D
