This weekend, I’ve been moving from Slicehost to Linode. I’ve been with Slicehost for a couple of years now, and I’ve wanted to refresh my setup, so I decided to try out Linode.

In the past tho years, I can’t think of any outages that I’ve had with Slicehost or any major problems. Every time I’ve had a question, they’ve been extra helpful on IRC.

With the ongoing recession, I’ve been looking for ways to cut my expenditures. I’m not actually not feeling the pain (knock on wood), but as I reflect on what is going on all around me, I’ve come to the conclusion that now is the perfect time to start tightening my purse strings.

For the sites I host, I couldn’t justify the costs for the Slicehost 512MB plan. The Linode 540 is almost $10/month cheaper with more memory to boot. I also really enjoy the Linode admin console.
