Objects and Jini will be a book about object-oriented, distributed programming. Jini gives the network a type system, and I would like to try and write a tutorial about how to design and program distributed systems with the Jini model. Right now, Objects and Jini the book is what you could call "vapor text." I plan to write this book similar to the way I've been writing Flexible Java: by publishing an article a month in a JavaWorld column. The first article of this new column, called Jiniology, was published May 20th, 1999. A first draft of my table of contents: Objects and Jini: Building Object-Oriented, Distributed Systems with Java, RMI, and Jini You will find a more complete online Jini tutorial at: http://pandonia.canberra.edu.au/java/jini/tutorial/Jini.xml You may also find useful these online lecture notes for a course about RMI and Jini: http://www.eli.sdsu.edu/courses/spring99/cs696/notes/index.html |
