JSF spec lead Ed Burns put online a video of his JavaOne talk AJAX Done Right (Flash Player required). As it turns out, there are many ways to do AJAX "right" with JSF, and several frameworks have emerged around different approaches. Ed mentions a few of these in his blog post about the JavaOne talk, and also has pointers to downloadable example code from the talk.
