The news got worse for the A's today, as it was announced that Mark Ellis suffered a torn labrum in addition to his separated should and will be lost for the entire 2004 season. It is anticipated that rookie Esteban German will take his place as the opening day starter at second base - especially with Frank Menechino still recovering from a calf injury suffered during Spring Training.
