A couple of months ago I was talking to Eric Smith, the creator of CodeSmith, and the topic of the documentation for CodeSmith came up. We both agreed that it needed more, and we came to another agreement where I would work on new documentation to ship with the the next release. (It has since been released)
I put together a number of different documents for this release including a couple of tutorials, a FAQ, and a couple of references. Needless to say I was pretty proud when I saw Mike Gunderloy say the following in Developer Central email newsletter:
"There are other improvements here too. One notable one is that the CodeSmith documentation is MUCH more extensive and usable than it was with previous versions; new users actually stand a chance of figuring out what's going on here now."
This post is not just about patting my own back though, I wanted to poll my readers and see what other documents people would like to see as a part of CodeSmith as well as point them to our new knowledge base. I am going to be spending time loading new documents into the knowledge base, and will also try and answer any questions that users submit.
