In the past few weeks I've been working alot with Ben Maurer of Mono fame just becoming more “Mono Aware” personally, and working to help get tips, tricks and specific places in nGallery that need to be updated to be fully Mono compatible “out-of-the-box”.

And, now, reading all the PDC bloggers on the new features coming (and having witnessed alot of those features first hand as a Whidbey Alpha tester), I can't help but drool over the thought of the reality of having those same features in a Mono world.

Talking with Ben, many of these features are very easy to do and not far out of reach from the current implementation of Mono.

Can you imagine? True “write once, run anywhere“ that Sun has spouted about for so long. Crazy.

Personally, I came from the Linux world where I was doing Java and J2EE apps... I've come to .NET and totally been converted by it's power and ease of use. Perhaps Mono is a good direction for me to contribute in? Sounds like a good fit for me, personally.

Ben says there is always room for contributors on Mono.

I think I may just have to dive in and see if I can't help out where I can. You interested? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts. Am I crazy?
