The A's overcame a HR in the 9th inning off closer Keith Foulke, and got some heroics themselves with a 2-out 2-strike double by Jermain Dye to tie it in the bottom of the 9th. Then, Adam Melhuse (substituted for Chris Singleton who pinch ran for the typng run in the 9th), singled with the bases loaded and 2 out for the win.
Then, the A's watched the Jumbotron and Tim Salmon's 11th inning walk-off HR to officially give the A's their 3rd AL West title in 4 years. Now, the A's will probably mix in a lot of their young stars for the next 4 games, making sure to give enough time to keep their starters sharp, but fresh. As it stands now, it looks like an ALDS series against the Red Sox, starting at the Colesium this coming Tuesday or Wednesday.
Congratulations to the A's on a hard fought division title! A's fans van buy there post-season t-shirts & caps here.
