The Oakland A's must have read my blog calling their recent 2 game skid to the Mariners a "choke". Well, they convincingly busted out of their funk with a 12-0 thrashing of the Mariners, expanding their AL West lead to 4 games and reducing their magic number to 3.
Rich Harden was a late scratch due to back spasms, and Ted Lilly pitched his 4th straight strong game for the win. Lilly may be pitching the best of his career at just the right time, because he'll more than likely be the 3rd starter in the ALDS ... assuming the A's can put away the Mariners by taking the next series from the Rangers. The last thing the A's need is for the season-ending series to have any meaning this coming weekend.
