I always have questions about what I hear about the bible and when I read the verses I just have more questions.  I thought that I would post these so that either a reader can give me an answer or a thought or I can save them until the next time I meet with a nun from my fianceĆ©'s church.

I am facing the problem with living together before marriage right now.  My fianceĆ© and I are buying a house and we have over a year left before the wedding.  I won't go in to the details about our relationship, but we have been dating for about 4.5 years.  So ever the freelance student I decided to see what the bible really says about it.  Below are the passages and my questions.

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

Okay, I get the body is a temple stuff.  It tells you to do no nastiness and implies sexual activity by talking about every man having a wife and every woman having a husband.  I assume this means no masturbation also, but it really doesn't seem to say that.  Plus I just read recently that the more often you ejaculate the less likely you are to have prostate cancer, but I digress.

"Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"

This seems to be getting to the point of living together in a roundabout way.  If we appear to be fornicating then that is bad too.  So we must not be able to live in the same house or spend any private time together even if we are not doing the deed.

Fair enough (if I am understanding it), but what about situations aside from people fornicating each other silly?  What about the actor that plays the antagonist in a movie.  Their character may be a serial killer or some other type of sinner, so does the church look down on that too?  Are the actors that played the Jews in The Passion of the Christ going to hell for appearing evil?
