Learn how you can perform a format of an SD memory card on the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Before you can go ahead and storing data on the SD card you will need to format it so that is compatible with the device. Formatting the card on a different handheld device or a PC will not make it work with the Galaxy S II. Here's how you can do it on your device.

1. While your phone is in idle mode.

2. Select Applications.

3. Then choose Settings.

4. Now select Storage.

5. Next select Unmount SD Card.

6. Then Select OK.

7. Now select Format SD card.

8. Then select Format SD card.

8. Finally you can select Erase Everything.

If you have an old SD card and you just want to format it, remember to backup any data that you have in it so that you can use it later on.
