This is very interesting... This page talks about (and shows examples of) slide-in messages in the browser ala MSN/Windows Messenger slide-ins. I know we see the gigantic animated page covering ads today already, but I like the idea of a subtile slide-in window that gives the user some sort of current relevent information. I don't have a specific use for this in any projects I am working on, but I will keep it in mind for the future.
