This week my copy of Here I Stand (Wars of the Reformation 1517-1555) arrived this weekend. The game looks very cool. The downside is that it's a bit hardcore (42 page rulebook) and would probably take the better part of a day to finish. Finding 5 other players to get through this will be tough. I may have to try it 3-player once first.

I also traded one of my old, rare, but unplayed games for a new copy of Twilight Imperium III. Imagine Puerto Rico meets Master of Orion II. I've played it once before and it was a blast. I would love to play it again.

Today, a friend of mine and I combined Skype with Vassal, and he taught me how to play Twilight Struggle in about 10 minutes. It worked alright for the most part, but Vassal is yet another slow, bloated Java app and, while my 9 month old AMD64 laptop with 1 GB of RAM complained a little, his 4 year old desktop positively groaned under the strain. But, hey, it worked. Oh, and Twilight Struggle is a pretty fun game and the Vassal mod is even approved by the game designer. :)
