5t.png Tonight Tobi's purty little weblog engine typo hit a major milestone by being applied the magic 2.0 mark. Before I go light up two candles to celebrate this milestone, here's a quick rundown of the accomplishments between version 1.6.8 and 2.0.0:

  • One-click setup
  • Support for non-vhost installations
  • Support for multiple authors
  • Web-based Admin Interface with live-preview
  • Ajax-based commenting
  • Ajax-based live-search
  • Pretty permalinks
  • Pagination
  • Syndication of 43 Things
  • Database backed sessions
  • Transition to ActionWebService
  • Spam Protection via DNSRBL, age checking, regex- and string blocking
  • Markdown support
  • Migration script for MovableType 3 users
  • Extended testing suites
  • And lastly, its very own visual identity using a logo from Justin Palmer

Right. That's quite some progress and we refrained from calling it 3.0 in the last second :)

If you like what you see here (on this blog), feel free to give typo a try. Typo is being released as Open Source Software under the MIT License and is one of the showcase applications for rapid development using the Ruby on Rails web application framework.
