Before studying webservices and different toolkits, i thought that WSDL is a nice definition format for webservices. But after struggling with the JSR-172 recommendation and the generation of stubs for a mobile client, i am just wondering why on earth do 2 different binding styles and 2 different encodings exist, making Interop (also with the same language but different toolkits) a nightmare.
Now would be the time where the so called experts jump out of the dark and throw some valid arguments to me, but at the end, i can only say, a developer wants to access a service and get results back. How this is done behind the scendes doesnt matter too much, but what does matter is the annoyance of incompability.
I searched the web and found a quite old complaint by Martin Gudgin and Timothy Ewald at xml.com, and i was surprised that they had the same feelings as i have today and the article is two years old. Even more frustrating is to see that nothing happened on this field, the christmas list of the two guys seemed to be burned right after santa got it.
