One likely scenario: you just want to begin moving up the Flex learning curve. That's fine; in a Jam you choose what you want to do. Or if you just want to explore TurboGears while Mark Ramm is available, you can do that.
The RIA Jam will include James Ward (Flex Evangelist and expert from Adobe) and Josh Holmes (Silverlight evangelist and expert from Microsoft). It takes place the Monday after CodeMash, in Ann Arbor, a driveable distance from where CodeMash takes place.
The dates for the Jam are January 14-16 and the early bird discount price of $400 ends on January 2. A big plus is that Adobe is giving FlexBuilder licenses (a $249 value) to every attendee at the Jam.

In the Flex-TurboGears Jam we will be combining the rapid creation of server-side systems afforded by the Python-based Turbogears framework with the elegance and power of Flex for the client side. Mark Ramm, author of Rapid Web Applications with TurboGears and a core TG contributor, will be there for the TurboGears side of things, and James Ward, Adobe Flex evangelist, will act as the Flex expert.
The dates for the Jam are February 18-21 and the early bird discount price of $500 ends on January 19. The Adobe FlexBuilder giveaway also applies to this Jam.
This event is in Crested Butte, so we will provide time for skiing in the afternoon (this is optional; you may choose to continue working). The snow this year is exceptional!
