Bill Venners thoughtful article contrasts the use of explicit protocols sending documents with method calls on objects. It seems to me that the issue is really about the metaphor being used in RMI, rather than something inherent in Jini. I am wondering what specifically is Jini-related about this idea, as opposed to showing the nicer metaphor of using objects to communicate in RMI.
