Security in Win and Linux?

Hi all,
When I start the browser example on a network of two Linux boxes and a WinME, the browser shows 4 Registrars for Windows machine and just one each for the Linux Machines.
I started all the services in all three machines.
Is this because Linux is more strict and just allows RMI Registry as public and everything else local? I am just curious to know why there is a difference? I used same security policies on all the machines.
