Idiomatic implementation of design pattern?

Well, I suppose it is a bit high level to be an idiom, but it is
so Java-centric that it doesn't quite qualify as a design
pattern. So what is it?

I'm calling it an idiom because all these "patterns" that I
will be documenting will be very Java centric.
