how do you make a loop that will detect an error,and harass the user to re-enter there input until it is correct,and nest this loop with about three others.

how do you make a loop that detects where period are in an input and harasses the user to re-enter it

how do you make a loop that asks the usr if they would like to re-enter a date, and terminates if the user says no,but if they day yes keeps going
please help me
