Differences between Webserver vs Application Server

Hi , I do have the same doubt. But even in Webserver u can run Servlets,JSPs and I have written the business logics in Webservers. And can u tell me can we run an application server without a webserver. Can u please tell me whatz the exact difference between these two. Thanks. Venkat
