the components don't show up when selecting the menu item

i have constructed a JFrame with a JMenuBar on it. when i click a item

on the menubar i should see some components on the JFrame. i have added

a JPanel to the JFrame and added the components to the JPanel. the

problem is that when i click on the menu item i am not able to see the

components. but when i maximize or resize the frame the components

appear. why does this happen. what is the solution for this?
