The JTextField will not catch the newly entered value if you did not hit the "enter" key after entering the value. The JTextfield would most probably still hold the old value even though you erased the old one, and enter a new value (without hitting the "enter" key). Most probably you'll get the same old drawing eh? Hope that helps.
