How to extract text from whole path or string

Hi Sir,
Can u tell me that how can i extract from the whole path or string
for example my string is
C:/java/old/bin/mah.gif
I want to extract last text that here is "mah.gif"
and other example
C:/java/zolo/lucky/how/maham.tif
the same problem is with it

Sir can u give me a code in java that can extract the text after the last slash "/" .
