Help for an intermediate java programmer

I need to make a program in which when someone clicks a button, the applet's appearance changes. When the user clicks the submit button, the applet should change to something else, and then they should be able to go back, and the submit button be disabled.

Also: How do i make my applet change the current web page? Going back to that example above, if they click the submit button, how can i cause the webpage to change to something that says you clicked the submit button?

Any help is greatly appreciated
