hi
well if you want to know the diff between awt and swing than the main diff is the awt components are platform dependent and swing components except high level containers like JFrame etc are platform independent.that is why awt has a limited no of components .
each component has a corresponding peer class which communicates with the o/s for its drawing.
hope it clears the main diff.
