2D LinkedList Matrix/ sparse matrix

Hi, does anybody know a link or a sourse for informaion about the following this subject. (It's jsut a school assignment)
i need to implement a class to deal with a large 2D arrays(matriicies) called sparse matrix, we use to LinkedLists to save the object's in it (not array , because array taked alot of memory)
the class should have methods, to add, remove, set value, to the matrix, also get value for Row,column element....
