I normally like to read reviews of a book before I buy it, especially if the price is $50 including shipping. Is there any way I could buy the eBook-only version and then upgrade to the eBook-and-hardcopy later?

I, too, would like to know the answer (I have already bought the pdf version). I would also would like to know how much is P&P to Europe, as it may be close to the price of the book?

If you buy the eBook from us, you will later be able buy upgrade to the combo for very close to the difference between combo and ebook. Same is true in the other direction. If you just buy the printed book (which you can't do yet) from Artima, you can later upgrade to the combo for very close to the difference in price. (It may not be exactly the same, because in the two transaction case we'll have to pay more total transaction fees.) If you buy the paper book elsewhere, we'll still give you a discount on the eBook, but not as big a discount as you'll get if you buy the paper book directly from Artima.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I didn't notice this question until tonight. I'll be sending out coupons either tonight or tomorrow to people who bought PDF PrePrints. I'll notify you by email, and the coupon will show up automatically in your cart when you buy the paper book.

I'm very interested in upgrading to include the paper book, but I haven't received this email. Has it gone out?

Hi Bill,

I bought a paper copy of the Scala book this weekend at Borders before I found out about the combo offer. Is there a way to get a discount on the PDF even though I bought the paper book at a bookstore?
