Christophe Coenraets, Adobe's senior technical evangelist, has just published the "30-Minute Flex Test-Drive for Java Developers." The objective is to give Java developers the opportunity to learn key features of Flex, and its underlying programming model, with minimal time commitment.
Just deploy the included WAR file in Tomcat, or in another app server, and then explore 10 sample apps. The samples focus primarily on integrating Flex with Java back-ends, and include examples of remote method and web services invocation, server push, real-time collaboration, publish/subscribe messaging and JMS integration, and persistence. They also demonstrate features such as charting and rich media components.
Flex is being adopted for everything from Enterprise apps to simple CRUD apps. For those of you who have built apps with Flex, why did you choose it? What have you liked about it?
[Editor's note: Artima interviewed Christophe Coenraets earlier this year about new features in Flex 2.0. The interview, Adobe Releases Flex 2, provides a quick overview of important Flex 2 features.]
