Via Sean McGrath comes this interview with Bruce Eckel discussing Python. There's some interesting talk about productivity relative to Java - similar to what us Smalltalk folks have been saying for a long while now. IMHO, the Python and Smalltalk communities should be closer - each language has optimal uses, and developers familiar with one should be pretty happy with the other. Sure, there's overlap between the two in terms of "best tool for the job" - but the two camps have a lot more in common with each other than either does with the Java hordes :)
