For about 6 months now, our dishwasher has slowly been breaking down. The various baskets on the inside developed gaping holes. The door stopped being able to lock closed properly. It got loud. The door was a pain in the butt - I had a "trick" for getting it to close and start, but my wife and daughter couldn't figure it out - so while I was at Smalltalk Solutions, they had to hand wash dishes. The door not working right made every load a chore. etc. So we just got a new one installed - and boy, is it quiet! (it better be, for what I had to pay for it). The door closes, the noise is gone - all the parts inside are whole - it just lifted a bunch of cruft right off us. Sometimes, letting things go is not the answer.
