After the weirdness post, I beat BottomFeeder for a while longer. Gave up finally. Reinstalled, copied download over the original. Resubscribed to my few feeds. And all seems to be OK, including the previous post which I couldn't get to upload the other night. I guess I've spent too much time on the Linux/MacOSX side now. I just don't reinstall these systems. Guess we get that part of cross-platform too. :)
