My father sent me another interesting shot of the damage to the beach in his area. The shot below was taken before Jeanne rolled through; after that, the steps down to the beach were partially destroyed.

There are two things that hit me in that picture. See that driftwood mass? When I was there in June, that was a good thirty yards up from the water line. Also, it was nearly completely buried. That means that a lot of sand washed somewhere else. The otherc thing is that large dark area of the beach - there used to be dune over part of that - see how choppy it looks back by the sawgrass? Keep in mind, this is before Jeanne came through. Florida's been through a lot
