We got a fairly nasty set of thunderstorms yesterday, but we caught a break with the remnants of Bonnie - it slid east of where we live. Last night's forecast was calling for over an inch of rain to fall, with the possibility of a lot of local flooding. None of that happened - we just have lots of clouds. Now, things aren't over yet - western Florida is going to get hammered by Charley, and that storm will track up the coast - whether we get a lot of rain (and wind) is still up in the air. Of course, we won't get anything like what they are about to get in Florida - the authorities have called for an evacuation of up to 2 million people from the western side of Florida, from Tampa on down to Fort Myers. It could get very, very ugly down there. I suppose eventually, a hurricane will run straight of the Chesapeake and wreak havoc on this area - hopefully no time soon.
