I recently had an accidental tea party with my laptop. I accidently spilled a considerable quantity of tea on the keyboard. I'm not sure whether it had sugar or not. I ordered it with milk and sugar and they didn't give me the milk, so I'm not sure about the sugar either. In any event, it was bad news.

I quickly shut down the laptop and flipped it upside down to try to let it drain through the keyboard. While I was trying to dry off the keyboard, it powered up again by itself. I shut it off again and it powered up one more time. This time, I shut it down, disconnected the power and pulled out the battery (I dare you to start up again).

I was told that the best thing to do was to let it dry out for a day or two then hope that it comes back to life. I powered it up again for the first time tonight. It booted!! A few things don't quite work right. For a while, the J key didn't work - it works now. The trackpad doesn't work, so I'm using an external mouse. The only other wierd thing is that when I press the down arrow key, it toggles the Numlock key on and off.

Overall, that's not too bad considering what could have happened. I'll take it into a service shop to see if they can get it working better, but at least it's usable. It was a very close call.
