Recently, I did a couple of pieces on the subject of making the OpenRepository more approachable through analogs to garbage collection. Strong Pointers led to an arduous discussion, which took me a while to see the other side. Thanks to Reinout Heeck for his patience and perserverance.
I get it now. Basically, the idea is that we annotate packages in the OpenRepository as a means to create logical repositories within the actual one, rather than create multiple repositories. Which I think is a pretty cool idea. We've got the hooks to put this stuff in (properties--though there be some DB things that could be done to improve performance of using them for queries). The only missing piece I know if (and maybe it's hid in there too) is the ability to track download activity of packages.
