In Sharing Smalltalk Extensions I raised the possibility of setting up packages in the Cincom Public Store for the purpose of sharing useful Smalltalk extensions. A number of people commented. There was some thought given to voting on what goes in the packages. There was also advice to keep things simple, and that's how I decided to get things started.

Therefore, I just published a new package to the Public Store with the name Base Extension Candidates I included a small number of extensions that I had handy, along with their SUnit test cases. I made no other attempt to "mine" for additional extensions; I hope other people will dig into their own extension libraries for contributions. A more organized effort at "mining" can come later.

I put the word "candidates" into the package name thinking we will eventually want to submit contributions to a refereeing process, with selected extensions being moved into other packages. That too can come later.

So let's get started, friends. All you need to do is load the Base Extension Candidates package, add your own extensions to it, and then republish the package with the next version number. Please include test cases if you have them. It would also be a good idea to blog about your extensions to let everyone know about them.
