For those of you with rather large hard drives, this is a use for XML I bet you hadn't considered:

I saw an article on TSS labeled "Thread dumps as XML," and thought to myself, why couldn't byte code be done as XML? So I built a custom JVM and converted rt.jar to my new XML byte code format. Now, this might seem an impossible undertaking, but fortunately I had some extra hard drive space. My new rt.jar is 620GB, but the class files are all human-readable now, and it's really nice to be able to edit them in Notepad

I don't know whether to be impressed or scared :)
