I do love Smalltalk, and I love XP. But it's probably time to rein in the urban myths a bit here. That second paragraph down... I work at that company. We do use XP ( at least, I think we do--its hard to tell someone that you are anymore, the term has become so dilute that while you say you are, others would say you aren't). The description of what our company does is correct. The usage of Smalltalk is correct. We also use a lot of other languages and technologies too.
However, implying that everything was totally screwed up at one point, and having switched to XP it all just magically went away, would be a bit of a stretch. XP has been great. It's helped us a lot. Better more qualified staff has helped us a lot too. And the culture of product delivery has, for the time, changed too. All these things have made our product better, and our engineers happier. But we still get bugs, and I'd warrant they come at a greater rate than once every couple of months. Looking out our xplanner stories, I see more than 50% of the stories in there right now are tasks to fix bugs.
