I'm really going out on a limb here.. so please bare with me. I don't consider myself racist, but by having a go at the french I guess I must be?
The french have decided to target Muslin's because they don't dress french-like. Huh? Yes, we all know the french love their culture - heck, look at Canada, where they've forced a huge country to write everything in two languages and have cornered off a whole section of the country to be french speaking only!
But now they seem to think that people outside their culture should also act according to their culture, just because they live in France. Give me a break! I know Australia's international image on racism has been getting tarnished a lot over the last few years, but I assure you the majority of us aren't this bad!
I've got a story about the whole french culture thing. A friend of mine went to Canada once and was in a store were they had tipping. He doesn't speak french and the man started babbling at him to pay him a tip.
My friend didn't understand and told him so in English, "Sorry, I don't know what you're saying. Do you speak English?". The store owner articulated that he did not, and that my friend should pay the tip. Any way, my friend went to leave and suddenly the store keeper called out "Hey, what about the tip?" in fluent English. My friends response to this: "No, you had your chance earlier when you claimed you couldn't speak English".
I guess this is my anecdote for saying that by the time they realise they've really pissed off the Muslim community, it'll be too late for them to make ammends.
