Now that we have released Cincom Smalltalk Fall 2003, let me highlight some of the most interesting new things:
  • We now support .NET with a direct connection. Shipping in Preview mode, we have a connection to .NET, enabling direct integration of VisualWorks applications with the .NET platform. We will support this fully in the next release - but you can integrate with .NET right now
  • We support Windows CE 4 on two hardware platforms - the ARM and the x86. This means that you can create mobile applications using VisualWorks right now. We are looking at SmartPhone support as well. With all the connectivity options VW has (COM, .NET, CORBA, HTTP, etc) - it's a great platform for deploying mobile applications.

These are the newest, hottest things we support with Cincom Smalltalk - for mobile, we aren't offering a cut down, partially working platform either - it's the full blown VisualWorks platform - which means that you can develop on your favorite platform, and deploy to a supported mobile device!
