I'm not sure whether the AP could look stupider if it tried. Here's an AP story, and this appears right in the middle of it:
In response, the AP indicated it would seek to create guidelines, though even that idea triggered further protests. Michael Arrington wrote on his TechCrunch blog Monday that AP "doesn't get to make its own rules about how its content is used, if those rules are stricter than the law allows."
Anyone able to spot the stupid part? As Mike Arrington notes, the AP would charge $12.50 for lifting that quote. So he's decided to show them what their idiocy means by invoicing them and sending a DMCA takedown. I'm sure they won't understand it; there are probably some multi-syllable words in the request.
