Just as I wait for Thursday's edition of LWN , Tuesday's getting to be a pivotal day too. That's the day Apple always has new stuff at the iTunes store. The thing that impresses me, is that there continues to be cool stuff there. When iTunes started up (what, nearly a year ago now?), I remembered wondering "will they keep it up though? or is this just an initial rollout push, and the growth after this will be slow". 1.5 months when I got my iMac and became an iTunes junkie, I was impressed by their selection, but there were things missing too. One of my childhood favorites I was hoping to get at was Queen, "Another One Bites the Dust" was about the first song on the radio I ever got into as a kid. But it wasn't there. Last week though, Queen showed up with 4 albums. This week.. There are now 22 Queen albums at iTunes. It's impressive. They still don't have alot of Huey Lewis or The Cars, but they will. If they get the Toy Dolls, then that will be heavenly.
What I love about iTunes is that it gives me access to "older" music. There's not much in production these days that I care for. But if you go to a CD store, it's hard to find the older stuff. So I end up not getting it. This way though, I can. Yeah, the artists aren't getting much of my cash, but a little's better than the nothing they were going to get otherwise.
BTW, Apple now has a 20" iMac. I managed to have the top of the line for ~2 months. You just can't stay ahead.
