Last night, the Ottawa Carleton Smalltalk Users Group held a meeting to screen the Squeakers video. We had a lower-than-usual attendance due partially to the bad weather we had last night. We had 8 people present.

Everybody enjoyed the video and we had some good discussion about Squeak and Smalltalk. We may try taking Squeak to local schools to do some of the exercises we saw on Squeakers. That would be fun

For future meetings, we have several local speakers who may give presentations. One thing we talked about, though, was getting together with the local Python Users Group to arrange a few "We'll show you our and you show us yours" meetings. We feel that the Python users are our "brothers in arms" against the mainstream languages and that we have a lot of philosophies in common. It would be interesting to make closer relations with them.

I've already contacted the local Python group about it. I'll let you know what comes out of it.
