Sun's Jonathan Schwartz recognizes that PR is way too important to leave to the PR people - sometimes, you have to jump in try to deal with a mistake:

That's the kind of thing I monitor the blogosphere for - product mentions, company mentions, etc - in order to highlight the good, and respond to the problems. Interestingly enough, that's the topic of this week's podcast, which I'll be posting later today
