SmalltalkIt, an Italian Smalltalk user group, with the University of Cagliari's Agile Group sponsorship, organises the ITALIAN SMALLTALK PARTY 2006 in Cagliari - Italy - on Saturday 1 July 2006. The day before the event, Friday 30 June, Mr. Cees De Groot will hold a tutorial on "Agile Project Management with Scrum". The cost of the tutorial is 50 EUR per person and will be used to reimburse the speaker travel expenses. For more info and subscriptions please write to giovanni@corriga.net. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- AGILE PROJECT MANAGEMENT WITH SCRUM The 1 day Scrum seminar will introduce participants to the Scrum agile project management methodology (see also http://www.controlchaos.com/). Scrum is a minimalistic system, eminently suited as a starting point for introducing organizations to the ideas behind agile development. Apart from the various superficial aspects of Scrum, a lot of attention will be given to the thinking behind it, which is important to keep a Scrum team on track. After finishing this seminar, participants will be able to work better as Scrum team members or start in the roles of Scrum Master or Product Owner. Cees de Groot has been developing software since the late '80s, progressing from C through a whole slew of languages to Smalltalk. In the late '90s, he introduced his then-employer to XP and was hooked to agile development ever since. At the moment he is a Certified Scrum Master working with a couple of Scrum teams at one of the top-10 websites in the Netherlands. Apart from this, he has served in various community roles like the Jini Technology Oversight Committee and the SqueakFoundation Board.
