Anytime an argument is framed as being "for the children", I start holding my wallet more tightly. Well, the folks who don't like Google's print project have taken that tack - apparently, it will mean the end of a specific children's hospital:
Great Ormond Street children's hospital is worried that that Google's online publishing scheme could cost it much-needed income.
The hospital, which receives all the royalties from sales and performances of Peter Pan, fears that it could suffer a drop in revenue if Google includes the children's classic in its plan to scan, digitise and make searchable the world's books.
So let me get this straight - being able to search content (not read all of it online, mind you) - would cost this hospital money? I don't blame the hospital for that bit of nonsense, but some truly twisted lawyer fed them a huge line of BS.
