Well, I'm off to OOPSLA once again. It's been a while for me. I'm sure I don't possess the reporting prowess of John McIntosh, but I'll see if I can't add my own little bit.

Ralph Johnson had sent an email asking veterans to go out of their way to welcome firswt time OOPSLA-ites. So I took him at his word, and introduced myself to the first OOPSLA guy I met at the airport. It was none either than Marcel Weir! Cool. Marcel's answered some of my Objective-C questions in the past. He's known as well for his "Higher Order Messaging" stuff in Objective-C, the same that inspired Michael Lucas-Smith to do the same in Smalltalk.

I ended up falling in with a bunch of Squeakers and other European academic types for a late dinner. Lots of fun talk about pragmas, and Squeak, and Scheme, VisualWorks, Smalltalk/X, etc.
