I asked people to send in their favorite key practice with the promise of free t-shirts! :)

Continuous Integration was the practice most often picked, even by people who aren't using it yet. Apparently it's pretty easy to see the benefit even if you aren't fortunate enough to be working in a CI environment every day.

Without further ado, here are the winners:

  • Hiroshi Sakurai - "I love 'Review All Code' the best."
  • David Starr - "With continuous builds, there is no question about the current state of our products."
  • Matthew Bass - "My favorite practice: Write & Run Tests. ...writing and running unit tests gives me an insane amount of confidence both that my code works and that it's written correctly."
  • David Murry - "I like the practice of compiling continuous builds. This practice, coupled with several others ensures there will be no “surprises” when a new version is put into production. Priceless!"
  • Eric Starr (no relation to David!) - "My favorite 'Ship It' practice has got to be #4 Build Automatically. The main reason for this is that I am tired of fixing an issue only to find that the fix gets broken by someone else (and I'm tired of breaking others' fixes by 'fixing' one of my own)."

Thanks for all the mail! I've forwarded on the winning mail to the Ship It! mailing list.
