I've been reading "Devil in the White City", a fascinating little book that covers two things: the construction and running of the 1893 Chicago World's fair, and the serial killer who was stalking Chicago before and during it. The killer was some piece of work - he built himself a killing house, and the way he did it - such that the working men who did the job wouldn't realize what they were building - is an amazing tale in and of itself. This book is the sort of gruesome "train wreck" kind of thing that you can't take your eyes off of.
